Copolymers of Starch and Polyacrylonitrile: The Dilution Effect
نویسنده
چکیده
In the ceric ammonium nitrate-initiated graft polymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) with starch, grafting frequencies and molecular weights of grafted polyacrylonitrile changed from 600 anhydroglucose units (AGU)/graft and 120000 to 280 AGU/graft and 36000 when concentrations of starch and AN were varied from 0.27 and 1.20 to 0.023 and 0,235 moles/I. of water, respectively. The influence of variety of starch, size of the starch granules, and reaction time was studied, and possible reasons for the influence of reactant concentration on the composition of the copolymer are considered.

Swelling and Rheology of Saponified Starch-g- Polyacrylonitrile Copolymers. Effect of Starch Granule Pretreatment and Grafted Chain Length
A series of well-characterized starch-g-polyacrylonitrile (PAN) graft copolymers was prepared from corn starch which had been heated in water at temperatures up to 94°C to vary the extent of starch granule swelling and disruption. Graft polymerization onto gelatinized starch gave less frequent grafting of higher molecular weight PAN than comparable graft polymerizations onto ungelatinized starc...
متن کاملStarch - Polyacrylonitrile Copolymers . Properties of Hydrogels
Gel sheets prepared from high-viscosity aqueous dispersions of hydrolyzed starch-polyacrylonitrile graft copolymers absorb several hundred times their own weight in water. Viscosity of the disperSiOns can be . reduced to low levels by mechanical shear before the films are cast to give solutions which yield water'soluble .films. These soluble films can be readily cross-linked to again form highl...

The present investigation deals with the development of controlled release tablets of salbutamol sulphate using graft copolymers (St-g-PMMA and Ast-g-PMMA) of starch and acetylated starch. Drug excipient compatibility was spectroscopically analyzed via FT-IR, which confirmed no interaction between drug and other excipients. Formulations were evaluated for physical characteristics like hardness,...
متن کاملGlucoamylase immobilized on acid-hydrolyzed starch graft polyacrylonitrile.
A continuous stirred reactor fed maltose as substrate was used to show that acid hydrolyzed starch-g-polyacry-lonitrile and other polysaccharide graft copolymers can bind and retain significant quantities of active glucoamy-lase. Glucose productivities up to 2.7 g/g carrier/h were observed with the immobilized glucoamylase, and half-lives up to 1800 h were indicative of activity longevity. Fact...

Starch-g-polyacrylonitrile (starch-g-PAN) copolymers were prepared by ceric ammonium nitrate initiation, and the major portion of the starch in these graft copolymers was then removed by acid hydrolysis to yield PAN with oligosaccharide end groups. Although these PAN-oligosaccharide samples reacted with methyl methacrylate in the presence of eerie ammonium nitrate, the resulting products were l...
